If you think you must go under the knife for a face lift, you can think again! The future of face lifts is here…. And it’s far less scary than a traditional surgical face lift. Thread lifts have become increasingly popular ever since Eva Longoria shared her thread lift experience on social media back in 2016.
What is a thread lift?
Thread lifts use fine, dissolvable threads under the skin to produce a subtle yet visible ‘lift’ in the skin. It’s a very effective way to tighten sagging facial tissue, resulting in a younger looking reflection.
Are there different types of thread lifts?
There are two main types of threads available – short PDO threads and longer ‘anchored’ threads. Some benefits apply to both types of threads, including:
PDO (polydioxanone) threads trigger the production of collagen to restore volume, but have a limited ‘lifting’ effect. This procedure is normally performed by nurses, with results generally lasting about six months.
The longer ‘anchored’ threads give a lifting effect as well as restoring volume through the production of collagen. We choose to use only Aptos threads, which we believe is the world leader of threads, in our Townsville clinic. Why? Read on below…

Aptos thread lifts are only performed by doctors who are certified in the technique – so you know you are in safe hands!
What happens in the procedure?
A local anaesthetic is gently injected to make the procedure comfortable. After that, you’ll feel a light tugging on the skin. The procedure usually takes about 20-40 minutes. For two or three days following the procedure, you might have some mild swelling and bruising – easily treated with ice packs and paracetamol.
